Your legs will become heavy and tired
Then comes the moment
When you feel the wings you’ve grown, lifting

*Shams was the name of Rumi’s mentor, and means “the Sun.” We can interpret this as walking towards our truth, towards our hearts’ desires.  Above is Rumi’s tomb, in Konya, Turkey.

I am trying right now to walk through my truth although I cannot see the truthful life head clearly, only the comfortable charisma of the well-worn fantasies I have clung to for years. I am afraid –but I am more afraid that staying put emotionally is a form of giving up on myself entirely. A delicious crumb is still just a crumb –and I want to believe, and act as though I believe, that I am worthy of a whole cake of joy.

Thanks for your honesty and courage, Jean. You may not be able to see exactly where your truth will take you. It sounds like the fear of staying put though is overtaking the fear of staying in your limiting story, despite the comfort there. As Rumi tells us, just keep heading towards your truth, one tiny step at a time, and, without fanfare, you’ll feel your wings, indeed your “whole cake of joy,” lifting you.
